Who we are

Totsee is a Vancouver-based childcare review and discovery platform helping BC families find and share trusted childcare experiences. We are subject to the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect right now

When you create an account: Your name and email address via Google Sign-In, and your account role (parent or childcare operator). When you leave a review: Your relationship to the facility, your star rating, written review, and keyword tags, and any enrollment proof documents you choose to upload to receive a Verified Family badge. When you browse: General usage data to improve the platform, and approximate location data via Mapbox to show facilities near you. When you claim a facility as an operator: Proof of operation documents you upload. When you sign up for vacancy alerts: Your preferred city and neighbourhood. When you search the platform: Your search queries, used to understand what families are looking for. When you message a childcare operator: The content of your inquiry. When errors occur: Anonymized crash and error data to help us fix problems.

How we use your information

To publish your reviews and display your first name and last initial publicly. To verify your identity as a parent or operator. To improve search and discovery on the platform. To send you email notifications including weekly vacancy digests, facility claim status updates, and platform announcements.

We do not sell your data. Ever.

Where your data lives

All data is stored on Canadian servers via Supabase. We made this choice intentionally to ensure your information stays in Canada and is governed by Canadian law.

Third-party services we use: Supabase (database and authentication, Canadian servers), Mapbox (mapping and location services), Anthropic (AI-assisted review quality checks — review text is processed but not stored by Anthropic), Vercel (website hosting), Google (sign-in authentication), Loops.so (transactional and sequence emails — your email address and preferences are shared), Resend (newsletter delivery), PostHog (product analytics and session replay — usage data processed on EU servers), Sentry (error monitoring — anonymized crash and error data).

Future data collection

Totsee is building toward a full childcare enrollment platform. In the future, families will be able to share sensitive information — including children's dates of birth, addresses, allergies, health card numbers, and medical information — directly with childcare facilities through our platform. When we introduce these features, we will update this policy, notify you directly, and obtain your explicit consent before collecting any sensitive data. This information will be handled with the highest level of care under PIPEDA, BC PIPA, and applicable health privacy regulations.

Your rights

You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, request deletion of your account and associated data, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@totsee.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Totsee is intended for use by adults aged 19 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 19. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at privacy@totsee.ca and we will promptly remove their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Totsee grows. We'll notify you of any significant changes via email or a notice on the platform.
